Tina Cicchetti was appointed by the Government of Canada to the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) Panel of Arbitrators for a six-year term commencing September 2, 2021.
Tina is a Member Arbitrator at Arbitration Place and Vancouver Arbitration Chambers and has more than 20 years of experience as counsel and arbitrator in Canadian and international arbitrations, including investment arbitration. Since becoming a full-time neutral in 2017, she has been chair or sole arbitrator in dozens of commercial cases in both ad hoc and institutional arbitrations. ICSID is the world’s leading institution devoted to international investment dispute settlement. It has extensive experience in this field, having administered the majority of all international investment cases. States have agreed on ICSID as a forum for investor-State dispute settlement in most international investment treaties and in numerous investment laws and contracts.
The ICSID Convention entitles each Member State to designate up to four persons to the Panel of Arbitrators and up to four persons to the Panel of Conciliators. The persons listed on the Panel of Arbitrators are available for selection to ICSID Tribunals and ad hoc Committees. The Panel lists are used most often to appoint where the parties are unable to agree on a nominee.
