Justice Pattillo obtained a BA in English from Dalhousie University in 1969 and his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in 1972. Following his call to the Bar of Ontario in March 1974, he clerked for the Court of Appeal for a year after which he began practice at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, as it was then known. In 1978 he joined Tory, Tory, DesLauriers & Binnington, now Torys LLP, where he practiced litigation until his appointment to the Superior Court on October 26, 2006. Mr. Pattillo retired from the Court on January 22, 2022.

As a lawyer, his area of practice was commercial litigation and he appeared before tribunals, arbitration panels and all levels of courts. As a judge, he sat in all areas of the Court’s business, including in particular, Divisional Court and the Commercial List.
