Eric Morgan is an arbitrator and mediator in commercial, corporate and shareholder disputes. He has been appointed as an arbitrator in over 25 domestic and international arbitrations, by the parties, by the courts and by arbitral institutions. He is a member of Arbitration Place’s inaugural NextGen Roster of Arbitrators and the Vancouver International Arbitration Centre’s panel of arbitrators. His arbitration work covers commercial and business disputes, shareholder and other investor disputes, directors’ and officers’ liability, corporate governance, partnerships and professional negligence. Eric is a Qualified Arbitrator (Q.Arb) of the ADR Institute of Canada. He completed the Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society’s Gold Standard Course in Arbitration in 2018 and later served as one of the course’s lead co-instructor from 2021 to 2023.
As counsel, Eric has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, courts at all levels in Ontario, courts in British Columbia, Alberta and New Brunswick, and in arbitrations (commercial and investment treaty) and mediations, including proceedings to recognize and enforce domestic and international arbitral awards. He is a partner at Morgan Joshi LLP, a Toronto boutique firm focused on business disputes, investigations, regulatory defence and corporate governance advice. ...more He previously practised in the litigation department of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and was a partner at another Toronto boutique firm. Before joining Osler, Eric worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in London, where he was seconded to the Bank of England and to the litigation and special investigations team of Barclays Bank plc. He also taught criminal law at Oxford University.
He is a former director of Young Canadian Arbitration Practitioners, where he co-chaired the Policy and Advocacy Committee, and a former North American representative of the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum. He is a member of The Advocates’ Society’s Arbitration and Mediation Practice Group.

Eric obtained his law degree from Oxford University, with first-class honours, and a degree in economics from the University of Toronto. He qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2010 and was admitted to the Ontario bar in 2011.
