Dr. Marchisio practices in the areas of private international law, international arbitration, and civil and commercial litigation. He regularly serves as tribunal secretary in complex international arbitrations and as sole arbitrator. Dr. Marchisio is included on the List of Rising Arbitrators of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the roster of the Vancouver International Commercial Arbitration Centre. He has published extensively on arbitration and the law of obligations, in addition to teaching evidence law at McGill University and Université de Montréal.
Dr. Marchisio obtained a law degree from the University of Turin in 2012. He subsequently moved to Canada, where he completed an LL.M. (2015) and a D.C.L. (2017) at McGill University, focusing on international arbitration. After leading the compliance group of the Canadian affiliate of a Japanese multinational corporation, he began practising law at Norton Rose Fulbright Canada. In 2022, he joined IMK LLP.
His experience includes representing a Canadian investor in an UNCITRAL arbitration against a Southeast Asian state and acting for two U.S. companies in international commercial arbitrations under the ADRIC Rules and the Canadian Arbitration Association Rules. He also represents a major European construction group in enforcement proceedings related to an arbitral award concerning the construction of a hospital complex in South America, as well as a Canadian air carrier in proceedings against two subcontractors for damages caused to key aircraft components.
Dr. Marchisio has served as sole arbitrator in fourteen cases and as tribunal secretary in major international arbitrations on eleven occasions. He is included on the List of Rising Arbitrators of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the roster of the Vancouver International Commercial Arbitration Centre.
Finally, Dr. Marchisio has taught evidence in civil matters at McGill Universityâs Faculty of Law from 2017 to 2020 and has been teaching at UniversitĂ© de MontrĂ©al since 2024. He has published widely on the law of obligations and on court intervention in the arbitral process. His main publications include:
