Larry Banack is a mediator and arbitrator with experience in resolving complex, multi-party disputes dealing with diverse issues. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Lawyers also retain him in the unique position of settlement counsel to achieve resolutions that elude the adversarial litigators. Prior to becoming a Resident Arbitrator, he maintained a diverse commercial litigation practice for 30 years at a boutique Toronto law firm. 

Larry is a dispute resolution specialist with a background in civil litigation. Before founding Banack Resolutions Inc., Larry maintained a diverse commercial litigation practice for 30 years at a boutique Toronto law firm. As a certified civil litigation specialist, he acted for clients involved in commercial, real estate, construction, estates and professional insurance disputes. ​

During that time Larry also developed a robust dispute resolution practice. He is frequently appointed as mediator or arbitrator and has experience resolving complex, multi-party disputes dealing with diverse issues. Lawyers also retain him in the unique position of settlement counsel to achieve resolutions that elude the adversarial litigators. Larry is committed to understanding the key issues between the parties and to assist in finding creative and practical solutions to resolve disputes in a timely, cost effective way. He became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2012. ​

Larry served as an elected Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada for 16 years. He is now a Bencher Emeritus and regularly publishes Banack’s Bencher News to keep the profession informed of matters arising in Convocation. For 7 years, he served as Chair of the Law Foundation of Ontario and for 3 years as Chair of the Law Commission of Ontario. Larry has been a Board Director of the Condominium Authority of Ontario since 2020.
