Carlos is the Managing Partner of Concepcion Global PLLC, a law firm with offices in Miami Florida and Madrid Spain. Carlos is ranked by Chambers and Legal 500 in International Arbitration, is Board Certified in International Litigation and Arbitration and is a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is also a Board Member and Past President of the Miami International Arbitration Society. Carlos has more than 35 years of experience in international commercial and investor-state disputes, especially in the intersection between common and civil law jurisdictions.

Carlos serves as counsel and international arbitrator in a wide range of international litigation and arbitration matters. His practice focuses on disputes involving financial services, design and construction, and distribution and supply chain controversies involving parties from multiple jurisdictions.

As an arbitrator, Carlos focuses on institutional proceedings involving international commercial disputes, and investment-treaty matters administered by ICSID. Carlos is a Panel member of the AAA/ICDR and The Center for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (“CPR”), the Singapore International Arbitration Center and the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Chamber. Carlos has worked with all the leading arbitration organizations including the ICC, and the LCIA. Through his office in Madrid, Carlos is active in the Madrid and Miami Chapters of the Club Espanol e Iberoamericano del Arbitraje.

He is Board Certified in International Litigation and Arbitration by the Florida Bar and is the Managing Partner of Concepcion Global PLLC, an international law firm with offices in Miami and Madrid. Carlos devotes a significant part of his practice to serving as an independent arbitrator in institutional and ad hoc proceedings, including under ICSID, ICC, ICDR, and CPR rules. In addition to his arbitrator role, Carlos maintains a robust practice as counsel representing select clients in high-stakes international commercial and investor-state disputes.

Carlos is a prominent figure in Miami’s legal and arbitration community, contributing to the city’s reputation as a global hub for international dispute resolutions. He is a past Chair and current Board Member of the Miami International Arbitration Society (MIAS) and regularly speaks at international arbitration conferences in Miami and Madrid. His bilingual fluency, deep ties to Latin America, and dual familiarity with common and civil law systems make him especially well-suited to resolving disputes across the Americas.

As an arbitrator, Carlos has presided over a wide range of matters, including shareholder disputes, treaty-based claims, technology cases, media and telecommunications disputes, and professional services conflicts. His appointments include cases involving parties and industries from the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe, and the Caribbean. His track record reflects his ability to manage procedurally complex cases with efficiency, fairness, and cultural fluency.

In parallel with his work as arbitrator, Carlos continues to maintain a selective counsel practice, representing clients in cross-border arbitrations, enforcement actions, and litigation involving international legal principles. His advocacy spans multiple jurisdictions and tribunals, including representing amici before the U.S. Supreme Court and handling high-stakes investor-state and commercial claims.

Carlos’s professional influence extends into public service and legal policy. He serves on the panels of leading arbitral institutions—including ICDR, ICC, CPR, and the BVI IAC—and has contributed to thought leadership through roles on advisory boards such as the Law360 International Arbitration Editorial Advisory Board. He is also a frequent instructor and speaker at major arbitration conferences and educational forums, including ABA and IBA events and GAR Live, and has taught international arbitration courses at the Universidad del Pacífico in Lima. Carlos is also a Fellow of both the College of Commercial Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb).

He holds a J.D. with high honors from the University of Florida, where he was named to the Order of the Coif, and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Florida State University, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He is admitted to practice in Florida and Texas, several U.S. District Courts, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
